An Arbor Day Event

Do you remember your first Arbor Day?  Probably not, but I’ll bet you do have pleasant memories of some of your past Arbor Day celebrations.  Let’s face it, there is something special about planting a tree.  Well here at GardenHere, we have decided we are going to celebrate Arbor Day with a literary event.   This event will involve as many members as wish to participate.  It’s simple, we are asking our members to submit articles, blog entries, Plant IDs etc. that deal with trees in some way.   If you visit the Trees and Shrubs forum in the LANDSCAPING area of the forums you will find the details of how you can participate.

We plan to collect all submissions and post a listing of submissions by category.  We have come up with 11 fun and informative categories you can choose to have your entries listed in.  There is even a place for our wonderful GardenHere country cooks and canners in this event.  Visit the Trees and Shrubs forum and see if you aren’t inspired.

You will want to check this list daily for new additions.

Oh yeah, BTW, National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April, so get those submissions rolling.

"We find our most soothing companionship in trees among which we have lived, some of which we ourselves may have planted. We lean against them and they never betray our trust; they shield us from the sun and from the rain; their spring welcome is a new birth which never loses its freshness, they lay their beautiful robes at our feet in autumn; in winter they stand and wait, emblems of patience and of truth, for they hide nothing, not even the little leaf-buds which hint to us of hope, the last element in their triple symbolism."
