A Cute Visitor

While I was out taking pictures I ran across him.  He appears to be a Carolina, or green, Anole.  It is native to North America, and is found mostly in the Southeastern areas, along the coast and west into central Texas.  It has the ability to change colors to match it's surroundings in order to hide.  When it is threatened, it will bite and hang on until the threat stops.  A prominent red throat, called the dewlap, appears like a balloon when in courtship, or when defending it's territory.  A Cute Visitor

I used to have a couple

in a terrarium when I was a kid! So cute and they eat tons of bugs! All we have around here are alligator lizards and blue bellies.

Visitor?

Visitor?  They should be helping to pay the mortgage around here.  They do pay their way when the lovebugs come out.  I have purposely waken a few of them from their midday sunbaths to get back to work and eat some bugs.

Awaken them?

Dorothy, how the heck to you wake them? They look to me like they are taking siestas all day long! If they'll eat bugs though, I'll gladly keep them around! I wish I could figure out how to get them to eat the bugs that keep eating me!

Yes thaey are everywhere.

Yes thaey are everywhere.  They come in the house every once in a while.  They like to sleep on the railing to the deck in the afternoons.  I don't mind them and the grandkids think they are cool.
