Ahhh... but the ants
Ahhh... but the ants attract lots of Flickers and other insect eating birds. These birds gobble up many of the bad bugs like hoppers and beetles, too.

Fragrance~
If you have the opportunity, Sorbet and Edulis Superba are supposed to be 2 of the most fragrant! ES didn't bloom for me last year, but I can tell you the sorbet was heavenly! Had it in a large container about 8 ft from the back porch and you could easily smell it from there! Yummy!!

The sorbet was the only one in a (3 ft deep) container, and in the fall, I planted it in a bed.

Ants?
Actually the peonies love ants - they are the natural pollinator for peonies. I haven't had problems with ants in those spots any more than others though. Did see a few ants here & there on the plants, but no more than I also saw on my Blue Boy cornflowers which were planted about 6 ft from the nearset peony.

Dizzy, thanks so much for
Dizzy,
thanks so much for sharing, I just love peony...I have a white one that bloomed for the first time last spring, and a pink one I am hoping that will bloom this spring. I just bought two bare root, and have them in pots waiting to go outside.
Can you tell me, do you have trouble with ant colonies ? Someone told me they will make their colony under the plants, and you will have them all over..I dont mind a few ants, but dont want a whole colony...UGH!
Thanks again for sharing, I am soo looking forward to seeing some spring blooms !
