Heat Wave
Apparently we are going to skip Spring entirely and just go straight into summer!
Temps today were in the 90's and triple digits are predicted for the next few days.
I don't do heat very well at all. My step-sis calls me the "Vampire Gardener". Now I'm not sure if it refers to me gardening late in the evening (because I avoid the heat) or if its the fact that I seem to be dessert for mosquitos. I just bought some mosquito repellant that swears its non-sticky and plan to try it soon.

Missing Runner Found
In my neck of the woods, runners often train for the Western States Marathon.
The Western States is a 100 mile marathon through some of the roughest wilderness one can imagine. Yesterday, One of the runners was separated from his group in the afternoon. We are experiencing quite a cold front here in Foresthill and concerns for the man's safety centered on hypothermia. Our lows last night were in the 20s.

Compost Happens
Started moving my compost pile and was amazed at the black gold. Considering I hadn't turned the pile since fall, I wasn't expecting much. I got three good wheelbarrows full to add to my raised bed. Hopefully it means good veggies this year!

Spring's a Springin'
Took the day off. The only constructive thing I did was go to the post office! What a luxury to stroll around seeing what is coming back and planning where to plant things! Happy to see the following "springing" to life:
Currants
Stella Cherry Trees
Red Plum Babies
Daffodils Narcissus
Red Japanese Maple Baby
Shasta Daisies
Purple African Daisies
Carnations
Sweet William
Pussy Willow
Red buds

Latebloomer improved
Hi all,
hope you didn't miss me too much! My former ISP and I parted ways and I was without the ability to go on-line for 5 days!!! I have now joined the ranks of DSL subscribers and already love it.
